Francisco Cândido Xavier (1910–2002), affectionately known as Chico ("shee-koh") Xavier, is celebrated as Brazil's most prolific and influential Spiritist medium. Over a 70-year period of mediumship, he psychographed (channeled) over 450 books, with all proceeds donated to charity. Waldo Vieira (1932–2015) was a Brazilian physician, dentist, and medium who worked alongside Chico Xavier for many years, co-authoring several books. He later diverged from traditional Spiritism to found the sciences of Conscientiology and Projectiology, which focus on the technical study of the consciousness and out-of-body experiences.
